Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament
Returns to Kona in 2026

August 1-9, 2026

The Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament (HIBT) is proud to announce its highly anticipated return to the Kona, with the 2026 tournament set for August 1-9, 2026. Five days of tournament fishing start Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7. Anglers, teams, and sportfishing enthusiasts from around the world will once again gather in Kailua-Kona to celebrate world-class big-game fishing and the spirit of friendly competition that has defined this iconic event since 1959.

Excitingly, the PORF Four Flags Tournament also returns to be part of HIBT 2026, giving anglers another chance to showcase their skills and teamwork in this unique fishing challenge.

Known as one of the oldest and most prestigious billfish tournaments in the world, the HIBT brings together anglers who share a passion for tag-and-release game fishing and the chance of catching your largest billfish ever, ocean stewardship, and camaraderie. This milestone return honors the tournament’s enduring legacy and the community that has supported it for generations.

As we look ahead to this next chapter, we remember with gratitude the vision of founder Peter Fithian, whose dedication to Kona’s sportfishing heritage helped make the HIBT a global tradition.

“As we bring the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament back to Kona, we do so with deep appreciation for Peter’s legacy and the lasting generational bonds formed through this event,” said HIBT President Roberta Fithian. “The 2026 tournament will be a heartfelt homecoming for anglers, captains, and supporters from around the globe.”
